SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 26 — In a surprise to investors, Electronic Arts said on Monday that its chief executive, Lawrence F. Probst III, would step down April 1, ending a 16-year tenure during which the company grew into the dominant independent publisher of video games.
John Riccitiello, 47, who was Electronic Arts’ president until he left in 2004 to work in the private equity business, will succeed Mr. Probst, the company said. Mr. Probst will remain as executive chairman. Read it
